750 Clock Hours
Our objective is to produce graduates that are sufficiently trained to sit for a Georgia state exam and find gainful employment in the cosmetology profession.
McDougle Technical Institute School of Cosmetology offers a blend of theoretical instruction, classroom practice and service to the public. Students are scheduled for class to obtain theory as well as practice. Clinic time is scheduled so students perform services for the public. This will allow the student to demonstrate skillful, safe services using good work habits. Students will be prepared to take a state test for a Georgia license.
Prospective students must comply with the following requirements to enroll:
Must posses a Georgia Master Cosmetology License.
Present a government issue with a valid picture ID.
Present a High School Diploma, GED, or proof of higher education.
In order to qualify for enrollment, a one-on-one appointment with one of the school admissions’ representatives is required. During the one-on-one appointment, the admission’s representative will provide advisement services to assist the student in planning and completing the program for enrollment.
Documentation from another country must be accompanied by the corresponding translation and evaluation by an approved agency or individual. Applicants who are at least 17 but younger than 18 years of age may enroll under parental or legal guardian consent. A parent or legal guardian is required to sign the Enrollment Agreement.
Breakdown of the Instructor Training Program .
The curriculum in a school of cosmetology for an instructor training course shall be completed within one (1) year and a total of 750 hours of training as stated below. For purposes of this Rule, one (1) credit hour equals one (1) clock hour.
General Education =(250 clock hours)
Cosmetology, Esthetician, Hair Design, Nail Technician and Barber Laws, rules and regulations – (25 credit/25 clock hours);
Principles of teaching cosmetology – (150 credit/150 clock hours);
Principles of teaching nail care – (35 credit/35 clock hours); and
Principles of teaching esthetics – (40 credit/40 clock hours).
Teaching techniques and audio visual aids = (225 clock hours)
Practice teaching = (275 clock hours)
Total Program Clock Hours – 750 Hours
Full time students attending 30 hours per week complete the program in 25 weeks.
